Bluetooth Vs WiFi

We are very familiar to Bluetooth. It is a short-range-frequency technology operating at 2.4 GHz and used for transmitting data. For more details on Bluetooth you can read my post on it named Bluetooth. This time I want to give some information in WiFi technology. Wi Fi stands for Wireless Fidelity and s used to define any of the wireless technology in the IEEE 802.11 specification. It is similar to Bluetooth in the sense that it is also a way to get Internet access. To use it you must be using a computer or PDA that has Wi Fi connectivity already working. Most portable computers can add WiFi using that plugs into a PC card or USB port. While both Bluetooth and WiFi are wireless technology trems, Bluetooth lives under the IEEE protocol 802.15.1, while WiFi falls under the 802.11 specification. This means that the applications using WiFi technology and those using Bluetooth are not interoperable. WiFi boasts faster data transfer speeds and range, making it a good replacement for Ethernet systems, while Bluetooth require less power and is therefore, more prominent in small appliance such as PDAs.
