Let’s support Electric Cars

I have always supported green stuffs. By green I don’t mean anything green in color but I mean anything that doesn’t make any kind of pollution of any kind and doesn’t degrade the environment and the living things that comprise it.

These days, electric cars are in fashion. People are getting aware of the environmental hazards caused by petrol/diesel engines and they are trying to do whatever possible to make earth worthy to live for our successors. Hence, the advent of electric cars; which of course runs via electricity and doesn’t emit any kind of pollution. But the big question is it people will buy it or not. It’s not that people aren’t buying it; coz they are but there are still many people who like fast cars with all those flashiness that petrol/diesel cars have.

So, the main problem here seems to be awareness which if people are, then they will develop liking towards electric cars and the result will be fresh and unpolluted environment.

May be it’s time for Apple and Facebook to unite

Yesterday Google dropped a bomb over Apple and Facebook by unveiling “augmented reality glasses”. This gadget is going to change everything I believe; the way we share, the way we communicate, the way we live. Check out the cool video below that they’ve come up with and you’ll get a hint of what I am talking about.

Even though this is just a prototype video and the real thing might now be as they’ve shown in the video, I am deeply concerned about my personal fav Apple and Facebook. I am not sure how they are going to cope with this brutal attack. Who is going to buy Apple iPhones and iPods when people can don’t even need to press anything to make a call or listen to music. Plus with these glasses you can share your location, find maps, chat, write your status and who knows what more it can do. Facebook will be swiped out.

So, maybe it’s time for both Apple and Facebook to put their ego aside and work together to counter this attack. Probably then they have some chances against the big daddy.

Cool iPhone type lock for your UIQ mobile

I bought a Sony Ericsson W960i few weeks back. It’s a cool touch screen walkman phone with 8Gb hard-drive, 3.2 mp camera and all the feature I could have ever dreamt of. But one thing I wanted on it was a lock system just like in iPhones. You must have seen those sliding iPhone locks. They’re really fascinating. Well, my phone is touch too so I thought there has to be a way or some software that can install the iPhone like sliding lock feature to my mobile.

And thank God there was too. iLock (iPhone Lock) is a software for UIQ mobile written in Java that locks your phone in a similar way like the iPhone. But actually it’s not a lock at all. It just acts as a full screen java program, so the phone picks up all the letters and numbers you type as input in to the java program. Since the program only allows the user to slide across the screen to unlock, you get the illusion that it actually locked your phone.

So, if you too want this cool iPhone type lock for your UIQ mobile then you can get it for free here.

Head Mounted Display is Utilized for Many Purposes

A head mounted display, or helmet mounted display as it is sometimes called, is a device that is worn by the user on the head or it may be used as part of a helmet. It may have one or two small display optics, such as a tiny LCD screen that is worn like goggles. Usually an HMD is equipped with earphones for sound (often 3D) and position tracking sensors.

Head mounted display technology is available in different formats. Some are compact and simplistic in their design, while others can be rather intricate pieces of equipment. The type that is required by the user depends on the purpose for which the device is needed.

The following are some brief examples of where HMDs may be utilized:

  • Aviation – The mechanism may be integrated into a helicopter’s or plane’s design and may be used to provide night vision, as a protective visor, etc.
  • Military and law enforcement - used for similar purposes as in aviation but for many other functions as well.
  • Scientists and Engineers – Head mounted displays are used when conducting various experiments to see the many sides of complex systems, and during complex operations.
  • Gamers – often utilized to create a virtual reality environment.

As you can see, the head mounted display is highly functional and benefits many different operations, helping to advance job performance, aiding in research, and even provides personal entertainment.

Its a cow wash, not a car wash!!!

See the picture? You guys might be thinking wtf? Well, its not a cow sitting in a car wash center but its a Cow Wash itself. The first ever gadget for the cows I’ve come across.
Cow wash was made by a Swedish firm DeLaval and recently reported that they’ve sold over 30,000 of this strange product of theirs in Sweden and now bringing it in UK. Seems its gaining high amount of popularity even though it may look a little strange to many. And the cows also seems to be enjoying their new gadget lol. The company has claimed that the Cow Wash boosts milk production capacity of cows by improving its blood circulation and stopping the spreding of disease.
A spokesman said the cows enjoy the sensation of being brushed and it can boost milk production by 3.5 percent. He said: ‘The swinging cow brush is a self-grooming device that keeps cows happier, healthier and more productive.”

I really doubt if that the car wash improves the productivity of the milk from the cows but as far as the happiness of the cows concerns, it sure seems to work. Check out the video below to see how this gadget really works.

Locksmiths & Bumping

Have you ever had instances where you happened to lock yourself outside your house? In such a situation, we often call a locksmith to let us in. well, there is a chance that he might have used the bumping technique to open the door. A bump key is a specially crafted master key that can open quite a lot of pin and tumbler locks.

A majority of the locks these days consist of a pin and a tumbler. Therefore it is essential to know more about these bump keys available in the market. There are a lot of sources on the internet that sell these bump key sets as well, however these could also be a root to several illegal activities. In the recent months, a lot of burglaries have been reported using this technique since it happens to be the easiest way to break the locks.

A bump key typically works by knocking off the lock cylinder as you apply pressure to the back of the lock plug at the same time. In such conditions, the pin would falter and thus open the lock, just like a normal key. In order to protect your house from fraudulent bumping keys, you need to get higher-quality locks installed.

Formerly, the homes were equipped only with the five pin locks rather than the existing six pin locks. The older locks were easier to bump and the locksmith would rather recommend something to improve your security. Six pin locks are actually impossible to bump, however there are ways listed on the internet to work around it. a security alarm on top of the traditional locks would be the best way to secure your home while you’re away.

Win A Brand New Wii And Wii Fit

Before I say anything about winning a brand new Wii and Wii Fit; let me first ask you a question? Which is the best search engine of the world? The most probable answer I’d be getting is “Google”. Of course, for me also Google is the best search engine. But some people prefer “Yahoo” and “MSN” also.
Anyways, there is a new search engine that I struck upon today called LeapFish. The name is like a jumping fish and the meaning will be clearer to you once you start using this search engine. Basically, you can just jump from one search engine result to another (Google to Yahoo or MSN or vice versa) for the same keyword without going to another search engine at all. The result will be displayed as you type in the keywords (result will be changing as you type) according to the search engine selected.
Ok, LeapFish.com is holding a contest in which you can easily enter and get a chance to win a brand new Wii and Wii-Fit. All you need to do it follow a simple process. Just set your computer’s homepage to LeapFish.com and get 1 raffle. Then you go to http://www.leapfish.com/win/ and fill up the form and enter the contest. If you add another computer, you get another raffle and if you invite someone and he/she enters the contest you get another raffle. More raffled will increase your chance of winning. If you’re already an existing member, just click on “Already Entered? Add Another Computer.” below the form and enter your screen name and add computer. And on March 23, 2009 one raffle will be randomly selected to win a brand new Wii and Wii Fit. So, what are you waiting for? Hurry up and start collecting your raffles.

N97 Out In Wild

Nokia has released N97 out in stores. Well, actually they are available in Europe and Asia only for now but will soon be available worldwide. It’s been a long since Nokia has released a touch-screen mobile phone so I hope it works for Nokia. Anyways, Nokia has stated that it’s the world’s most advanced mobile computer, which will transform the way people connect to the Internet and to each other. With QWERTY keypad, 5 mp camera, touch-screen display, 16:9 widescreen display, DVD quality video capture, continuous playback time of up to 1.5 days, supports of up to 48 GB of storage, including 32 GB of on-board memory, expandable with a 16 GB microSD card for music, media and more and the big price tag of €550 ($695), Nokia released this new flagship on Dec 2,2008. The drawback though pointed out by the experts from Gizmodo is about the resistive touchscreen which were immediately noticeable when dragging widgets around the desktop.

A resistive touchscreen relies on pressing two layers of screen together with a fingernail or stylus to register a signal, so it is not as responsive as a capacitive screen which is driven by the natural electricity in your fingers. - Gizmodo
Anyways, my good luck is with Nokia N97 but it would have worked it the price was a little less around $400.
