Let me tell you guys a short experience. May be a couple of years ago, I bought a HP printer because at that time I just joined my college and the teachers were all taking the assignments in printed formats. So, instead of going to friend’s office to get my stuffs printed, I bought a printer for myself. The printer was really very cheap. After the first semester, the printer ran out of ink and I went to shop for the cartridge and I was shocked too know the price of the cartridges. I never knew that the cost of cartridges were almost same as the price of the printer itself.
Later I came to know that we can refill the cartridges too for a mere price or we can even buy the bottle of ink and refill the cartridges ourselves. That would cost even lesser. But it’s not as easy as it sounds. After few tries we’ll soon admit the defeat and turn to the manual, realizing that the job could have taken a lot less longer. Even worse, we may mess it up beyond repair.
Few common errors that people make while refilling inkjet cartridges are as follows:
- Covering the air holes. In some models air is a must to enter the vents and fill the void when ink is being distributed. If the hole is sealed then the printer cartridge will fail to work properly and sometime can cause unwanted results.
- Read the manual properly. Don’t think that you can just look over yourself into the cartridge and figure out some way to dispense then ink inside the cartridge. Else you may also mistakenly push the needle far back into the cartridge. This may result a messy cartridge and a wasted printer refill kit.
- Last but not the least is over soaking your cartridge in water while cleaning the jets. This will cause your ink to run producing inconsistency in printing. Even in color printing, you may see a faded effect and reduced quality.
