Hiding your drives

Most users who are using computer have different important and personal information in their hard disk. They may not want others who use the same computer to see their personal stuffs. The information in may be crucial for decision making or very confidential for others to take a peek at it. The easy solution for all these troubles is you can simply put all your confidential data in one drive and hide it from other users. It’s so much more that just hiding you specific folders. When people aren’t able to see the whole drive, they won’t suspect of anything being hidden. For this you have to be an administrator account holder. Log on as an administrator or some other user who have administrative privileges. Then follow the procedure:

  • Start -> Run
  • Type ‘gpedit.msc’ (the group policy explorer opens)
  • Go to Local Computer Policy -> User Configuration ->Administrative Template->Windows Components
  • Select the Windows Explorer
  • In the right pane, there is an option ‘Hide these specified drives in My Computer’. Click it.
  • Click the ‘Enabled’ radio button, pick one of the following combination and press Ok
  • Exit group policy

Now open My computer. You’ll find the drive shave been hidden.
