Similar to making shortcut icons for Shutdown and Restart, you can also make shortcut icons for locking you computer which requires that a user needs to login before gaining access. The steps are as follows:
- Right click on an empty area on your Desktop
- Select New -> Shortcut
- In the first box if the create Shortcut Wizard, Type “rundll32.exe user32.dll,LockWorkStation” (without quotes). Note there is no space between the comma and LockWorkstation.
- Click Next
- Name the shortcut appropriately and click Finish
There you are. You have created a desktop icon to lock your computer.
