Run commands

My previous post was on Keyboard shortcuts which were for the users who want to be really good at using only keyboards instead of mouse. With this other will have the feeling that the user is really good at what he is doing. This time also I am giving out a post on similar topic to ease the users.

‘Run’ command is one of the key features of windows OS and it is an easy way to get to the desired directory or run an application which you don’t know where it really is. For this you open the ‘Run’ dialog box, type the run command and enter. Some of the run commands that I use frequently are:

Run command

Opens

Regedit/ regedt32

registry

Notepad

Notepad application

winword

Microsoft Word

Control/ Control panel

Control panel

control folders

Folder option dialog box

control userpasswords

User account dialog box

lusrmgr.msc

Local user & group dialog box

Gpedit.msc

Group policy

Msconfig

System configuration utility

These are just few samples of the run commands. For more run commands go to registry (start->run-> regedit). Then go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths
There are list of all the commands that you can use in ‘Run’. Enjoy.
